Stephen Meehan of the CCD
Although much of Ireland’s tourism industry has opened again there is still a complete lack of clarity as to when conferences, events and other business tourism activities can recommence.
The Irish Tourism Industry (ITIC) caught up with CEO of the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD), Stephen Meehan, to hear about the urgent need for a reopening roadmap for the business tourism sector, a hugely valuable component of Ireland’s tourism economy worth over €750m in a normal year.
Stephen talks about the difficult last 18 months and how the CCD venue and team have adjusted to the challenges of the pandemic. Although Ireland is losing out to competitors at the moment, Stephen is confident that with clarity and a roadmap the business tourism sector can bounce back.
